What We Do
Awareness
CLEO stands for Climate Leadership Engagement Opportunities and at the core of everything we do is Education in Action! Everyone deserves to know what’s at stake and how to protect our future and the people and places we love. By raising public awareness of the climate crisis, we invite people to learn, engage, and act.
Community Engagement
The CLEO Institute believes in the power of in-person community connections. That’s why members of the CLEO team regularly attend and host community events, from Earth Day fairs to our biggest event, the annual Race for our Future ® – 5K. These events, large and small, are opportunities for people to engage, connect, share ideas, and inspiration for a more sustainable future.

Social Media
Through our social media presence, we invite people to explore climate science, human challenges, and the beauty of the natural world. As Jean Jacques Cousteau said, “people protect what they love, and they love what they know.” Through a mix of humor, education, and calls to action, we engage with millions of people to bring awareness to the challenges and solutions of climate change.
Award-Winning Campaigns
Blending art and activism, The CLEO Institute’s campaigns bring the realities of climate change in creative ways to make abstract and complex issues into consumable information and show the urgent steps we can take together. Campaigns incorporate communications best practices in peer-reviewed climate and behavioral science.
Our Present, Icarus’ Future ( 2024)
The immersive, thought-provoking performance began in silence, broken only by the sound of a baby’s heartbeat. Meet Icarus, who represents the 385,000 babies born each day, and see how his life is likely to be shaped by a changing climate.
This experience was created in collaboration with Zubi Advertising and VoLo Foundation.
Florida, The Emergency State (2022)
Launched by The CLEO Institute, powered by VoLo Foundation, and in partnership with the Union of Concerned Scientists, “Florida, The Emergency State” was an unprecedented video campaign to highlight the impacts of the climate crisis in the Sunshine State.
Melting Florida (September 2020)
We created three statues depicting iconic representations of Florida and put them in public, high-traffic locations. The twist? All three were made from wax that melted when temperatures exceeded 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
